Several of these songs were received by us as we were walking a pilgrimage through the Mira watershed in the Alentejo, Portugal in October 2019. We walked as part of a peace education program at Tamera Peace Research Center. Tamera is a project that aims to model a healing response to the current crisis the world is in, bringing together peace work, holistic ecology, love and sexuality, community building and spirituality. This pilgrimage was an action to bear witness to the ecological and social situation of water in the region.We visited many areas of desertification and some secret areas where paradise is still alive. We saw both how the Alentejo has been transformed into desert and the dream it holds to flourish again as a place of water and lush forest. Throughout this time we also acknowledged and attended to our inner waters – where the desert and paradise live within us, too.

The name "Boudica" refers to the Celtic warrior queen of the Iceni tribe, one of the last tribes to resist the Roman colonization of what today we call England. We tell her story not to celebrate war, but to beckon her ancestral example as someone who defended what she loved, the sacred. In these times, we feel called to reconnect to that deep-seated source that makes people take a stand for life – this inner point of freedom that can see a healed picture for life, no matter the outer circumstances. Through our music, we want to honor and connect with those who choose to walk this path.
