When We Find That We're Free

from A Água é um Ser by Boudica

/

about

This song was received by Will Rogers (in the photo), a friend of Justine's, on Paiute Shoshone territory on Turtle Island (the Indigenous name for the United States). It came through while feeling into the sentiment that all of our liberations are collectively intertwined. The song wants to honor the value of imagining what it might look and feel like to find ourselves all in that distant land that we are working towards. And it also wants to honor the muck and the work and the composting of stories and socializations that cause harm as part of what is needed in actualizing that imagined future. The song is meant to be felt as a prayer.

lyrics

We will see who we will be
When we find that we're free

Can you imagine distant lands
Where we grow wings?
